Linkout Overview Pubmed Nucleotide Protein Genome Structure Popset Taxonomy OMIM Books Linkout Subjecttypes, Attributes and Urlname Last Updated: October 1, 2001 The"Subjecttype","Attribute"and"Urlname"elements specified in the Linkout DTD are_used to describe Linkout resources. Subjecttype values (listed and described below) will_be_used to display resources by subject, making it easier for Entrez users to browse the available Linkout resources and to retrieve records containing links to specific resources. Additionally, Entrez users will_be better able to find and select relevant Linkout resources in Entrez's Cubby system, which will allow users to choose which links will_be_displayed in the Entrez records they retrieve. For each Linkout resource, the provider should select the Subjecttype value from the list of specific Subject Types that best describes that resource and include it in the appropriate Linkout files. The General category Subject Types such_as, Education, Medical, etc. cannot be_used . If there_is no Subjecttype specified, the resource will_be_displayed in the"Other"category. The Attribute element is_used to_further describe some important aspects of Linkout resources. Attribute values will_be_used to organize resources, and to indicate to users which resources are subject_to particular conditions or limitations (e_g, . resources that require a membership or subscription). For each resource, the provider should select all Attribute values from the list below that apply, and include them in the appropriate Linkout files. A provider may supply a short text string in the Urlname element to describe its resource. Urlname is_used typically when the allowed Subjecttypes and Attributes cannot meet the need of a provider. For more information on the use of the Subjecttype, Attribute and Urlname elements, see the Linkout overview documents.
